I was born and raised in northern Kentucky along the Ohio River. I lived a short time in Mississippi before moving to Northern California where I lived for over 20 years. I have have been writing all my life, but completed my first novel in 2004 after I moved to Washington (state of) near the Canadian border. I have since returned to the East Coast to be nearer my family.

When not writing, I photograph and play with my "Kids" (my cats), Tia, Sassy, Budd (Sylvester), and Teegrr. You can check them out at artbymattie.com. And I read, read, read.

The majority of my working history has been as a legal secretary althought I have made forays as a marketing assistant and database technician.
